31/12 - 2008 :: Happy New Year!
The Genuine Fakes wish you all a Happy New Year! 2009 will be a very productive year for the band. You have a lot of things to look forward to - video releases, CD releases, a new website and hopefully loads of live performances. Who knows, maybe this is the year it all will happen? Onwards and upwards fellow fakers!
16/12 - 2008 :: Sweden Rock Nordic Challenge Competition.
If you want to see The Genuine Fakes at the Sweden Rock Festival next year, you can help out by voting for them by clicking on the banner below. You just need a MySpace account and you can vote once a day until January 6th!
06/11 - 2008 :: TGF in Jack Rocks final.
The Genuine Fakes won the first round in the Jack Rocks rockband competition and qualified to the finals at Viking Cinderella on Jan 29. There they will compete against four other bands, and Mustasch are headlining. So, in other words, if you want to see this you need to book yourself a cruise!
01/11 - 2008 :: Upcoming tour dates.
Next week The Genuine Fakes are doing a few gigs in Uppsala and Gothenburg. A couple more are soon to be confirmed.
14/10 - 2008 :: New song on MySpace.
You can now get a taste of the fruit of the bands labor in the studio over at MySpace. The song's called "The Promise" and is going to be released on the upcoming album.
03/09 - 2008 :: Summer break's over - now it's back to school.
Last night the band got together and rehearsed again for the first time since mid June. It's been a long time off, but now it's time to get ready for the shows coming up this fall. Check out the calendar for new tour dates.
Also, a new mix of "When Reality Hits You" is now available on MySpace and Facebook. This fall is dedicated to getting the debut album done, so keep a look-out for more songs in the near future.
23/06 - 2008 :: The Genuine Fakes on iTunes.
The song "Somehow Everything" (which The Genuine Fakes contributed to 'Beautiful Escape - The Songs of The Posies Revisited') is now available on iTunes. So now you won't have to buy the whole 3CD box set to get a hold of it - even though we strongly recommend you do get the box set. You'll definitely get you're money's worth.

12/05 - 2008 :: TGF salutes you.
The band would like to extend their deepest gratitued to everyone who helped out in the making of their video this weekend. Everything went smoothly and everyone did their parts and more. The result will surely be something special. The video will be released later this summer - possibly September - and a big party will be thrown to celebrate the event.
07/05 - 2008 :: Video shoot and ROQ.
This Saturday The Genuine Fakes are making the video for "I Don't Want It". The band needs extras/audience so if you're in town and you want to be in the video, check out this event on Facebook.
Furthermore, The Genuine Fakes join Winston and The O-kult at ROQ in Stockholm later the same evening for a rawkin' show. Check out the live calendar for more info.
27/04 - 2008 :: New song on MySpace.

09/04 - 2008 :: The Genuine Fakes live at Obaren.
The Genuine Fakes are playing at Obaren (The O Bar) in Stockholm on Monday April 28. Check out the calendar for more info. If you're on Facebook, you can find more info here. RSVP and invite your friends!

01/04 - 2008 :: Metro Music Challenge.
The Genuine Fakes were in the Metro newspaper today - reaching approximately 350 000 readers. A jury put The Genuine Fakes in the top 20 out of 1800 bands! Check it out at www.metromusicchallenge.com.
30/03 - 2008 :: Beautiful Escape EP on Amazon.com.

"Irreplaceable" has apparently reached the US and has been played on a Santa Cruz college radio station.
17/03 - 2008 :: "Irreplaceable" on NetSounds.
"Irreplaceable" will be featured on Scottish Internet radio: NetSounds on Wednesday March 19 at 7 pm (GMT). To listen to the show live, click here. You can also listen to it after that, whenever you like here.
16/03 - 2008 :: Beautiful Escape update.
The 35 song, triple disc Posies tribute album "Beautiful Escape - The Songs of The Posies Revisited" will be released on May 20. There will be a release party at Nuemo's in Seattle at a Posies concert on May 17th. It's bound to be a great show! Plans are also in the works for a release party in Stockholm since so many Swedish acts have contributed tracks to the album. Nothing official yet though.
The Genuine Fakes' contribution, "Somehow Everything", was aired on WMEL Radio last night. It's being added to a bunch of different radio shows in the US and Australia at the moment. It's also posted on the Beautiful Escape MySpace again, so if you haven't heard it yet just head on over there and have a listen.

The official release date for "Beautiful Escape ...is Coming Right Along" EP is April 15, but you can already pre-order it at Burning Sky Records webshop.

26/02 - 2008 :: Gig in Stockholm.
Don't miss The Genuine Fakes' first proper live show in Stockholm since March of 2007. On Thursday of this week (Feb. 28) they make their return to Alcazar at Nalen and will showcase material from the recent recording sessions. It's powerpop night! Who'd want to miss that? Doors open at 7.00 pm, TGF are on at 9.30 pm sharp. Free entrance!

27/01 - 2008 :: Beautiful Escape preview EP.
For those of you who have frequented the band's MySpace it's no news that The Genuine Fakes are contributing a track to an upcoming Posies tribute album. It's entitled "Beautiful Escape: The Songs of The Posies Revisited", and this triple CD is slated for a release in late spring/early summer by Burning Sky Records. Prior to that, however, an advance EP will be released with four exclusive EP tracks along with one track from each of the three CDs in the album. The Genuine Fakes' version of "Somehow Everything" is one of those three tracks, which is pretty awesome.
